Home Depot Training?
I was just hired at Home Depot and my first day is the beginning of next week. I was given a piece of paper with training class numbers and things next to them like "WBT, ILT, SP", etc.. At the end of orientation the person giving orientation told me just to clock in and do what was on the list. So, if I understood correctly, I just do what is on the list on my own and then let them know when I'm about finished with the training (which would probably be a few days). Does this sound normal? It just seems like an odd way to do things. They just let me do it on my own and I hand in the tests and just mark down that I've done everything else after I've completed it all...?
Also, could you tell me what exactly "SP" means in the training? I think it means self-paced...but what exactly am I supposed to do? They weren't exactly clear on everything. I know the ILT means Instructor-Lead Training. Also, with ILT, will they do that when they're ready or am I to ask someone to do it?
wbt is our web based training. you'll get an id and password, which you'll use to access our system..you'll log in and do your training under a system called "my apron" and it's called e learning. you'll see all the classes and their numbers. it will match your paper. you'll have some that are required before you get on the floor. any training that is not web based is scheduled by your scheduler - they will tell you when to go, it will be scheduled for you...it will be a class such as selling skills, or millwork. There will be other small things like cutting keys and blinds, mixing paint..just grab and associate to show you (they're very easy to learn) and if those things are on your list, tell the scheduler that you've completed them. I think that is the SP)these will not be scheduled or listed under e learning. It all really depends on the department you were hired for. and it will really really really help you to learn the department numbers. Any questions feel free to contact me. this is a busy time for a lot of stores, so just hang in there
