Space Saving Tips For Your Child's Small Bedroom
Of all the bedrooms in the house the child's bedroom is always the smallest. Sometimes surprisingly small. This can leave you without much space for storage. When you don't have much room horizontally you have to think vertically.
A loft bed is typically about five feet off the ground offering a solid bed but leaving all the space in the bedroom available for use. If two are sharing the room you'll need two. There is still the standby of bunk beds which are fun. A trundle bed is a good option also. Two beds occupy one space. When it is time for bed one bed rolls out from underneath the other. In the morning just slide it back into place.
To include a desk in the room without taking up more space you can get a bunk bed with a desk built in. Some of these have shelves, desk, or even a small closet space. Loft beds with desk can be purchased with the desk built into either the foot or head of the bed. This takes up even less space than the bunk bed.
Plastic bins that can be stacked can make for a great organizing tool. All of you child's things can be organized and grouped and placed in bins. These can be open front where all things are visible. These make cleaning up quick and easy since everything has its place. If there are shelves in the room try clear bins with lids. These can be stacked as well. They must be clear so your child knows what is in them. Otherwise you will find all the bins open, without lids, in the middle of the floor because they were looking for one item.
The space underneath the bed can be utilized for more than dust bunnies and shoes that go missing. Beds are available that have drawers built in underneath. Much like the trundle bed these drawers slide out from under the bed. Depending on the height of the bed they can be deep and may be one long drawer or four smaller drawers. There are plastic storage bins that can fit under a normal bed. These would be used for those things that aren't used often.
A great space saving tool are vacuum sealed storage bags. These things shrink a drawer full of clothes down to just a few inches. The same is able to be done with a quilt, comforter or blankets. Put away all the winter clothing and store them at the top of the closet and reduce clothing clutter.
An over the door shoe organizer can hold so many small items that a child has. Crayons, paints, glue, paper, felt, feathers, rocks, glitter, socks, shoes, hair barrettes, shells, all those bits of this and that they like to collect. Each pocket can hold something different and be useful from toddler to teenager.
Use any one of these ideas or all of them to keep you child organized and still have some play space left over. To get the maximum usage of space the loft bed with desk is the top option. You can put multiple kinds of storage underneath and still have space available under it for play.
Avon Store?
What should I get to organize products and such, im opening an mini avon store at my house(already approved and its ok for me to have it at my house) and need some ideas on how to run the store, store products, stuff like that any ideas? I thought about getting the stackable storage bins and labeling them with masking tape and a sharpie
First off make it look professional. You might want to make up lamenated price cards instead of using tape and a sharpie or even just printed labels. Make sure your displays match such as shelves, baskets, bins etc.
Also if you are just doing Avon you are limiting yourself. Depending on how much space you have you might want to think about diversifying with some other popular companies such as Tupperware, Discovery Toys, Usborne books, etc. You don't have to stock everything but could order in products that you do not have in stock. This way you will widen your market and can offer your customers so much more.
If you think you might want to diversify and Tupperware might be something you would like to add give me a shout and I can give you more info on Tupperware.
