Brand Versus Quality: Finding the Right Ratchet Spanners
Bombarded constantly with endless products not only in the internet but also in all media aspect, we are flooded with promises of high quality outputs. Often times, we relied on these promises and ended up with not only defective products but also cash strapped. However, ignorance is no longer an option these days as armed by the information available to us whenever we want them, all we have to do is to filter this information and get the real details behind every article.
Brand versus Quality = Savings
Oftentimes we rely on brands to get our fixes. It is like saying a coffee is to a Starbucks as a ratchet spanner is to a Halford. Today, however, some non-branded ones also produce quality products that are cheaper but are also effective in their job. Here comes Figaro, and other coffee shop that threatens Starbucks' stronghold on the coffee industry. Same goes for Halford as Britool, Draper, Facom and Silverline entered into the race vent on increasing their share in the market.
It is different however for the consumers as many brands rises, the prices for such products such as a ratchet spanner will drop down as manufacturers will lower down the prices to attract more buyers. The price war though is only good in certain ratio, as the further lowering of prices will affect not only the manufacturers but also the suppliers of the raw materials. Many manufacturers will have to switch to cheaper materials to lower down operational cost therefore affecting the quality of the finished products. That is why, there are many cheap spanners in the market today, considered by many as disposables as they are only good for one time use.
Consider buying a good set of tools as an investment if you have funds right now. Buying cheap ratchet spanners, which are good for one time use, will cost you more in the end. In addition, a good set of tools or products, which you use often, will make you familiar on how to utilize its potential that you can fix anything even while your eyes are close. Spotting opportunities are hard to come by and good products will last you for a long time.
There will also be times that quality are compromise by shipment or factory defects, but a good manufacturer that values its client will offer warranty for its goods and will offer for the return of the damaged items (provided it is their fault entirely). When you are buying a ratchet spanners consider asking the sales person on the warranty of the product.
Whether you are buying branded or non-branded ratchet spanners, always keep in mind the quality that you want. Branded ones or the more popular ratchet Sets are pricier and more expensive because the consumer is paying for the name, as the brand is what sets it apart from the others. However, if you are not concern with the names and are perfectly fine in using other brands, you will find there are non-branded ones that are actually good.

Has anyone tried those new box end ratcheting box end wrenches ?
yep they're great but pricey. the cheaper ones in a set for twenty bucks work good too but are wider and don't fit into as many small spaces.
